AMCHAM T&T joins the nation in mourning the tragic passing of Lisa Morris-Julian, Minister in the Ministry of Education, and her two children, who lost their lives in a devastating early morning fire today.

Words cannot capture the deep sorrow and pain felt over this heartbreaking news. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, constituents, parliamentary colleagues, and all who are grieving this loss. Today, we mourn the passing of a dedicated leader, beloved mother, public servant, and cherished member of our community.

We are deeply appreciative of the years of service and commitment Ms. Morris-Julian dedicated to her constituents and country. Her legacy as a former MP, Minister, and former Mayor of Arima (2016–2020), as well as her role as deputy mayor (2015–2016) and councillor for Arima Central on the Arima Borough Council (2013–2020), will always be remembered.

We extend our deepest prayers and thoughts to Mrs. Morris-Julian's husband and surviving children during this incredibly challenging time. We wish them strength, healing, and a swift recovery from the physical and emotional wounds caused by this tragic and heartbreaking incident.
