Legislative Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to provide guidance, expertise, and recommendations to AMCHAM Trinidad on legal/ legislative matters affecting its members, the business community, and the broader socio-economic landscape of Trinidad and Tobago through areas such as:

• Legal Guidance: The Committee will provide guidance, expertise, and advice to the AMCHAM Trinidad on matters related to business law, regulatory compliance, government affairs, and other legal issues affecting the interests of AMCHAM Trinidad and its members, making recommendations to improve the administration of justice.
• Policy Development: The Committee will participate in the development of policies, position papers, and advocacy initiatives on legal and regulatory issues impacting the business community in Trinidad and Tobago, wherever possible.
• Member Support: The Committee will facilitate the provision of legal resources, information, and support to AMCHAM Trinidad members, including but not limited to legal education seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities including facilitating presentations from subject matter experts and making such experts available to the Committee or other committees, if requested.
• Collaboration: The Committee will collaborate with other committees, task forces, and external stakeholders as necessary to advance the objectives of AMCHAM Trinidad and address legal/legislative challenges facing its members.
• Advocacy: The Committee will identify the issues that membership requires progress on by way of bi-annual/ annual survey and determine / identify areas of co-creation with third parties (internal or external) to support in timely communication and/or feedback.

The Committee consists of members of AMCHAM Trinidad who have expertise and experience in various legal and business fields relevant to the mission of the Committee and the recommended membership is:

• 75% of persons with Legal/Compliance expertise.
• 25% of businesspersons with an interest in legislative areas.
