MEDIA RELEASE
29/04/2025
The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) extends warm congratulations to the Prime Minister-elect the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the UNC Coalition of Interests on their victory the 2025 General Election.
AMCHAM T&T recognizes this victory as a reflection of the people's support of the platform of the the newly elected UNC administration. We commend all citizens who exercised their democratic right to vote, and we wish Prime Minister-elect the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her administration every success as they embark on this important chapter of leadership.
AMCHAM T&T stands ready to work alongside the new Government to advance policies that will stimulate economic revitalization, drive investment, and foster sustainable growth. We are particularly eager to collaborate on strengthening both the traditional and renewable energy industries, expanding the tech sector and digital economy, and creating a more enabling environment for businesses through meaningful reforms to improve ease of doing business.
The number one priority of the Government has to be to reduce crime — a critical element in restoring investor and public confidence and ensuring a safe and prosperous society. In tandem we urgently need to address education reform to reverse the Caribbean-wide crisis in math and english and prepare our young people to take advantage of current and emerging opportunities.
We believe that prioritizing these areas will not only strengthen the economy but also advance broader socio-economic development, leading to a more prosperous and resilient Trinidad and Tobago.
We encourage the Government to adopt a more collaborative approach now that the campaign is over. The more people in the boat, rowing in the same direction, the more likely we are to get to the intended destination.
AMCHAM T&T remains committed to being a strong partner to the Government and all stakeholders in the pursuit of these goals. We stand ready to support initiatives that drive innovation, stimulate economic activity, build capacity, and secure sustainable prosperity for all citizens.
Congratulations once again to Prime Minister-elect the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the UNC Coalition of Interests. We look forward to working together toward a brighter future surrounded by growth, opportunity, and shared success.
