This year marks the 15th edition of AMCHAM T&T’s National Excellence in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Awards—widely recognised as the country’s premier platform for acknowledging exceptional leadership in HSE and sustainable business practices. Officially endorsed by the Ministry of Labour since 2011, the awards reflect AMCHAM T&T’s longstanding advocacy for higher HSE standards across every industry sector.

This year, 35 companies submitted entries across four major award categories. After a rigorous judging process, 12 emerged as finalists, evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges drawn from a cross-section of industries, who focused on measurable improvements in safety systems, innovative health initiatives, and clear commitments to environmental responsibility.

The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on November 10th, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad.

Spotlight on Excellence

Among this year’s outstanding submissions, four companies rose to the top as finalists in the most prestigious category—the Excellence in HSE Award. This award recognises organisations that integrate HSE as a core business value while achieving outstanding performance both in HSE and overall business operations. The 2025 finalists are:

·        Halliburton Trinidad Limited

·        Sonriz Engineering Services Limited

·        West Indian Tobacco Company Limited

·        Yara Trinidad Limited

These organisations exemplify how embedding HSE into company culture creates safer workplaces, more resilient communities, and stronger business outcomes.

AMCHAM T&T CEO Nirad Tewarie congratulated the finalists and emphasised the broader significance of their achievements. “We are extremely proud of all the companies that submitted entries and particularly the finalists who continue to set the standard for HSE excellence in Trinidad and Tobago,” he said. “These awards are not just about recognition, they are about reinforcing a culture where health, safety, and environmental responsibility are embedded in every aspect of how we do business.”

He further highlighted that the private sector’s ongoing commitment to HSE is proof that profitability and people-centered practices are not mutually exclusive but can, in fact, drive sustainable growth. “The continued commitment to HSE standards shown by our private sector is a powerful example of how organisations can balance profitability with people-centered practices and sustainable growth. At AMCHAM T&T, we believe that the long-term success of our companies and our country depend on this kind of unwavering dedication to safety and responsibility,” he added.

AMCHAM T&T continues to champion corporate responsibility, innovation, and leadership in building a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
