Griselle Smith

    Caribbean HR Leader - Human Resources
IBM

Griselle Smith  is currently the Caribbean Human Resources Manager at IBM World Trade Corporation. She is based in Trinidad & Tobago with oversight for the Human Resources function for IBM branches located in the Caribbean, namely, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Curacao, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago, reporting to IBM Canada head office.

Her primary responsibility as Caribbean Human Resources Manager includes leading the HR team across all jurisdictions for the HR function, such as: recruitment, administration,  compensation and benefits, pension, training and development, employment legislations, employee relations and performance management. She is the primary HR focal for the 15+ matrix Management team across the Caribbean and Canada.

An employee of IBM for over 29 years, her experience and responsibilities also include: Contract Administration, Health and Safety, Procurement, Vendor Management and Crisis Management. More recently, she led IBM’s COVID-19 response across the Caribbean.

Ms. Smith has also been involved in several office relocation exercises in Curacao, Barbados, Bahamas, Jamaica, and Trinidad along with the successful implementation of hybrid work models across the IBM Caribbean workforce.

Ms. Smith has also held the role of Senior Location Executive (SLE) for the Trinidad & Tobago branch office. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the Branch operations and providing overall leadership and guidance on matters pertaining to real estate, crisis management, facilities, and legal representation.

Ms. Smith is an advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility and had held the role of a United Way of Trinidad & Tobago (UWTT) Donor Champion for IBM. She has worked closely with the UWTT over many years in both corporate and personal capacities and has performed in the 
role of Committee Member for the National Day of Caring activities. 

She is a member of the Human Resources Management Association of Trinidad & Tobago (HRMATT). She graduated Summa cum Laude from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) undergraduate degree. She also graduated as Leader Scholar from Franklin University with a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Business Psychology.
