LINKAGE Q1 (2026) - REVITALISATION & TRANSFORMATIONAt AMCHAM T&T’s Annual Economic Outlook Forum 2026, held on January 21 at the Hyatt Regency under the theme “Crosswinds to Opportunities”, senior business leaders, policymakers and stakeholders gathered to examine the forces reshaping Trinidad and Tobago’s economic future. The discussions underscored a critical message: while global and domestic challenges persist, they also present meaningful opportunities.Delivering the Keynote Address, Minister of Works and Infrastructure the Hon. Jearlean John emphasised the importance of strengthening international partnerships and positioning Trinidad and Tobago as an attractive destination for investment. Referencing the upcoming visit by a United Arab Emirates delegation led by Minister of State Noura Al Kaabi, who visited Trinidad and Tobago from January 23-26, 2026, the Minister noted, “She’s going to visit some of our projects… that is a kind of validation visit,” highlighting the significance of on-the-ground engagement in building investor confidence. The Minister underscored that this visit forms part of a broader national strategy to drive economic diversification and unlock new opportunities through foreign direct investment.Setting the tone for the Economic Outlook Forum, AMCHAM T&T President Anna Henderson, in her Opening Remarks, noted that ‘Crosswinds to Opportunities’ was not simply descriptive, but intentional. “We must be deliberate in how we respond to the challenges before us,” Henderson stated, “Change is no longer cyclical. Instead, rapid change is now the norm, and the pace of disruption is accelerating across industries and economies.”She also pointed to the importance of strengthening national systems and improving the ease of doing business, noting that “efficiency, transparency, and accountability must be at the core of how we operate.” Her remarks ultimately called for bold, collaborative leadership. Meaningful progress will require sustained partnership between government, business and civil society. The perspectives shared at this year’s Economic Outlook Forum reflected a unified call to action. Trinidad and Tobago has the opportunity to navigate economic “crosswinds” and emerge stronger better positioned for sustainable growth.
