SPEAKERS BIO

Margaret Bishop

Consultant, Professor - Parsons School of Design

Margaret Bishop is a textile engineer with more than thirty years experience in the development, production, quality assurance, and compliance of primary textiles, wearing apparel, and interior textiles for the U.S. and global markets. In addition, she has been teaching textiles and textile-related business courses, fashion supply chain management, and global professional practices to students and industry professionals at the leading fashion universities in New York City for more than a decade, and at India's Woxsen University. 

She continues to consult to industry worldwide. Margaret holds a Bachelor's degree in Textiles from North Carolina State University's College of Textiles, a Master's degree in Management from Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management, and a Master's degree in Global Fashion Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York. 

She has published two textbooks on textiles and the textile/apparel supply chain. She is a member of the International Advisory Group for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) and a member of the Board of Directors of FABSCRAP, a not-for-profit organization that diverts pre-consumer textile waste from landfill to upcycling and recycling, reducing the amount of textile waste that goes to landfill in the United States each year.
