The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T), in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy (Port-of-Spain), hosted its annual AMCHAM T&T–U.S. Embassy Partnership Reception on January 29th, 2026, at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence on Flagstaff Hill.

This invitation-only event brought together the executives of AMCHAM T&T’s 300-member companies, alongside senior Government Ministers, Opposition MPs, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and key stakeholders for an evening of high-level engagement, relationship-building, and reflection on the enduring partnership between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.

The reception, held at the historic residence recognized as the birthplace of AMCHAM T&T, celebrated decades of collaboration focused on trade, investment, private sector development, and national progress.

Delivering Welcome Remarks, Anna Henderson, President of AMCHAM T&T, reflected on the depth of collaboration between the two organizations.

“Together, we have partnered on impactful initiatives that advance business competitiveness, cybersecurity and digital transformation, women’s leadership and entrepreneurship, good governance, youth development and workforce readiness, and high-level dialogue between the private sector, policymakers, and international partners.”

Henderson also reaffirmed AMCHAM T&T’s ongoing commitment to its members and to national development. “We are determined not only to remain relevant, but to remain impactful — to stand as a partner that adds value where it matters most. Valuable to our members who look to us for leadership. Valuable to policymakers who depend on clarity, insight, and collaboration. Valuable to communities whose well-being must remain at the heart of progress. And valuable to the next generation of business leaders, innovators, and dreamers who will inherit the Trinidad and Tobago we are shaping today.”

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz said, “We are grateful again to celebrate another new year of working together with AMCHAM T&T.  The membership of AMCHAM T&T is deeply representative of the ties between our economies.  Through events like this annual gathering and running through our regular interactions throughout the year, we reinforce the ties between us that truly make both of our great nations more prosperous and more secure.”

Nirad Tewarie, CEO of AMCHAM T&T, underscored the importance of the U.S.–T&T relationship and the role of the private sector in advancing shared priorities.

“This partnership reflects what is possible when diplomacy and enterprise work hand in hand. The United States remains our largest trading partner and one of our most important allies, and AMCHAM T&T is proud to serve as a bridge between our business community and the U.S. Embassy as we pursue growth, innovation, and national development.”

The United States continues to be Trinidad and Tobago’s largest trading partner and a key ally in areas including economic development, innovation, education, entrepreneurship, and security cooperation. The annual Partnership Reception provides a platform to strengthen engagement between the business community and the diplomatic corps.

The AMCHAM T&T–U.S. Embassy Partnership Reception remains a cornerstone event on the Chamber’s calendar, reinforcing the value of collaboration, dialogue, and shared leadership in building a more resilient, innovative, and inclusive future for Trinidad and Tobago.
