Ms Kellyanne Lochan, Country Manager | Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago

Good evening.

It is a privilege to address you this evening at the annual AMCHAM National Excellence in HSE Awards.

As the Title Sponsor of this esteemed event, Woodside Energy takes great pride in our enduring commitment to promoting health, safety, and environmental stewardship. As a company, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of HSE excellence and are honoured to support and celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses
across Trinidad and Tobago in this vital area.

The American Chamber of Commerce plays a crucial role in shaping the discourse on health, safety, and environmental practices in our country. I was particularly pleased to see
your robust range of Conference speakers and a recognition of the critical ingredients for a company’s safety culture through the awards. For example, there is an award for
Operational Resilience, and another for HSE “Evolution”.

To me, HSE “evolution” is about the ongoing development and continuous improvement in HSE practices and standards, ensuring they remain effective and relevant with new challenges, technologies and regulations across a range of high risk industries. It’s about moving from the reactive to the proactive and ultimately the predictive.

One evolving area is the focus on Human Factors in HSE, the theme for this year’s HSE conference. Human Factors is critical in HSE leadership as it focuses on understanding the
interactions between people, systems and work environments. Depending on the industry, it is likely that the majority of health and safety accidents experienced have a human factor causal element, thus reinforcing the importance of building awareness of the topic. By
addressing human factors, organizations can significantly reduce errors, enhance safety outcomes and improve overall performance.

One of this year’s conference speakers - Bob Edwards, coauthor of Bob’s Guide to Operational Learning – How to Think like A Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)
Coach, suggests that it is absolutely critical to combine an understanding of human behaviours with a personal commitment to learning every day, avoiding blame and
being constantly uneasy about safety. Within Woodside, I have had the opportunity to listen to Bob teach Human Factors principles a couple of times and am sure it will be a
positive learning experience for those in attendance.

I want to reinforce that our collective leadership sets the benchmark for responsible business conduct, emphasizing that a safe business environment is essential for sustainable success.

Now for this evening’s highlight, we come together to honour those organizations which exemplify excellence in health, safety, and environmental performance, underscoring the importance of these critical pillars in business operations. These awards act as powerful
motivators and markers of progress, helping organizations to strive for and showcase excellence in HSE performance.

My hope is that we draw inspiration from each other's achievements and shared commitment to HSE excellence. Together, let us strive to push boundaries, evolve our HSE
practices, harness the power of technology, and implement proactive measures to safeguard our workforce, environment, and future.

On behalf of Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago, I extend my sincere appreciation to the attendees and collaborators and congratulate all the winners and entrants.

I thank you.
