MEET OUR NEW PRESIDENT
ANNA HENDERSON

Henderson assumes the presidency following the conclusion of Stuart Franco’s two-year term. Franco, CEO of Trinidad Systems Limited, was lauded for his steady leadership during a period marked by global and national transition.
In her inaugural address, themed "Opportunities in Transition”, Henderson offered a bold and forward-looking vision. “Now is not the time for hesitation but instead for bold ideas,” she declared. “I believe in the private sector’s power—not just to create profit, but to create progress.”
Henderson outlined several key priorities for her presidency. At the forefront was AMCHAM T&T’s continued commitment to addressing national challenges, including crime. “Safety and national security must go hand in hand with economic development. Economic opportunity is a powerful deterrent to crime. By providing people with opportunity, we create and sustain a safer, more productive society.”
The new president also advocated for deep customs reform and a significant improvement in the ease of doing business to restore investor confidence. “Someone has to bell the cat,” she noted, encouraging cross-sector collaboration to tackle long-standing inefficiencies.
On human capital, she called for a national workforce strategy supported by modern education reform and practical training. “Instead of lamenting ‘brain drain,’ let’s build an ecosystem that retains and attracts talent,” she said. “We are at a crossroads where outdated curricula and rigid systems are failing to meet today’s realities—far less the demands of tomorrow.”

Digital transformation, she emphasised, is no longer optional, but foundational to innovation and competitiveness. Urging support for initiatives like digital IDs, e-governance, and e-payments, she highlighted AMCHAM T&T’s Tech Hub Islands Summit (THIS), as a platform to explore the future of tech and AI.
Gender equity was another key area. While celebrating the leadership of women at the highest political levels in Trinidad and Tobago, and now at the helm of AMCHAM T&T, Henderson underscored the need for broader inclusivity. “We must ensure leadership across all sectors becomes more accessible and reflective of our nation’s diverse talent,” she said.
As she steps into this new role, Henderson offered a call to unity and action. “This is a time for bold thinking and collective action. I hope you will join me on this journey. I thank you for your trust, your support, and the opportunity to serve.”
Anna Henderson is the fourth woman to serve as president of AMCHAM T&T, and the third to be elected to this position within the last eight years—a reflection of the chamber’s commitment to gender equity and the creation of meaningful opportunities for women to lead.
Her leadership also promises to bring renewed energy to AMCHAM T&T’s mission to drive digital innovation, expand economic opportunity, and support national development through strong, principled private sector engagement.
