Kent Western

Chief Executive Officer
Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT)

Kent Western is a forward-thinking leader who currently serves as CEO of the TSTT. With nearly 20 years of experience in senior executive roles across local, regional and international markets, Kent has earned a reputation for driving innovation, accelerating digital transformation and strengthening business performance.

TSTT is Trinidad and Tobago’s largest and most advanced provider of communications services, offering mobile, broadband, IPTV, security and cloud solutions through its bmobile, bmobile Business and Amplia brands. Since taking the helm, Kent has helped reposition the company as a key player in national development and private sector growth, delivering the digital infrastructure that powers businesses, entrepreneurs and government modernisation.

Believing strongly in the power of public-private partnerships, Kent has led TSTT’s efforts to support national digital transformation. Under his guidance, the company worked closely with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and its supporting agencies to integrate into TSTT’s e-Cashbook platform, improving efficiency and transparency in government financial operations. He also steered the rollout of practical, citizen-focused innovations, including Trinidad and Tobago’s first Online Certified Copy Request System, a Digital Customer Portal for the Environmental Management Authority and a kiosk-based Licensing Payment System, all aimed at modernising the public services and unlocking greater productivity.

Kent has also focused on strengthening the country’s financial ecosystem by prioritising partnerships that promote inclusive growth. One standout initiative under his leadership was TSTT’s groundbreaking alliance with the Co-operative Credit Union League of Trinidad and Tobago (CCULTT), which enabled more than 80 credit unions to deliver secure digital services to their members, advancing financial inclusion and expanding access for underserved communities.

His time as CEO has been marked by a strong focus on performance and sustainability. With a clear vision for modernisation and investment in robust infrastructure, Kent has overseen TSTT’s return to profitability, with the company posting a Profit After Tax of $127.8 million and Total Comprehensive Income of $226.1 million in the 2023 to 2024 financial year. These results were driven by ongoing upgrades to TSTT’s fibre and wireless networks, reinforcing the company’s role as a backbone of national connectivity.

In 2024, TSTT’s commitment to national development earned it four major awards from the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT), recognising its leadership in Connecting the Unconnected, Social Contribution, Sustainability and Technological
Disruption. That same year, bmobile was named Trinidad and Tobago’s fastest and best mobile network by Ookla for two consecutive quarters. Kent also led the delivery of a second subsea fibre route between Trinidad and Tobago, a critical project that has strengthened infrastructure resilience and ensured reliable connectivity for the sister isle.

Kent holds an MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Anglia Ruskin University, a Mini Telecom MBA from the Telecoms Academy in the UK and a postgraduate certificate in General Management. His expertise spans commercial operations, customer-centric strategy and innovation, network modernisation, AI-driven business transformation and stakeholder engagement.

At his core, Kent is passionate about using technology as a tool for meaningful progress. He is committed to bridging the digital divide, enabling economic growth and driving national development, firmly positioning digital transformation as a force that empowers businesses, strengthens communities and builds a more inclusive future.
