Lydia Lee Chong

Lydia Lee Chong is a seasoned and strategic leader with over 25 years of experience in chemical engineering, advanced process control, project management, process safety, occupational safety, sustainability, and operations management.

Her career began at the Petrotrin Refinery, where she spent seven years as a Process Engineer, focusing on process optimization and advanced process control. In 2006, Lydia joined Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL) as a Senior Process Engineer where she led the development and execution of small to medium-scale capital growth projects.

From 2017 to 2021, Lydia served as HSSE Manager, where she played a critical role in shaping and enforcing health, safety, security, and environmental policies and practices that underpinned safe and sustainable operations. She has also acted as Vice President of Operations, contributing to strategic decision-making as part of the company’s leadership team.

Currently, Lydia is the Process Manager at PPGPL, where she leads a team of professionals. She is responsible for optimizing the economic extraction of liquids from natural gas, ensuring operational efficiency, maximizing plant uptime, and maintaining high standards of product quality, availability, and delivery.

Lydia is actively involved in several professional organizations. She serves on the STOW Implementation Board of Directors for the Contractors Management Safety Systems Certification Programme and is a past member of the LABIDCO Board of Directors. She also contributes to the HSSE Subcommittee of the Point Lisas Energy Association (PLEA) and is a member of both the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT) and the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT).

Lydia holds a BSc in Chemical and Process Engineering and an MSc in Project and Programme Management from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad. She also earned an MBA in Sustainable Energy Management and is a Certified Energy Manager from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business.
