The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad & Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) welcomes the announcement by both the Honourable Kamla Persad Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the latter “outlined support for the Dragon Gas proposal”. We are hopeful that this will lead to the granting of the relevant OFAC licenses. 

We commend the Prime Minister and her administration for securing U.S. support, which reaffirms our longstanding and deep partnership as well as the shared commitment of our two nations to energy security, economic growth, and regional stability.

We are optimistic that the Government will take the appropriate steps to engage with Venezuela, as well as the private sector entities involved, and prepare to monetize the assets in a manner that benefits the people of both countries.
