Paula Davis, Global Speaker, Strategic Advisor, and Award-Winning Author
Paula Davis JD, MAPP, is a global speaker, strategic advisor, and award-winning author who helps leaders build resilient teams and optimize the human factors that drive successful AI adoption. She teaches leaders and teams how to identify and implement TNTs (tiny noticeable things), small, repeatable work practices that have an outsized impact on retention and performance.
Paula left her law practice after seven years and earned a master’s degree in applied positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. As part of her post-graduate training, Paula was selected to be part of the University of Pennsylvania faculty teaching and training resilience skills to senior leaders in the military as part of the Army’s Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness program. The Penn team trained resilience skills to more than 40,000 soldiers and their family members.
Paula is the author of Beating Burnout at Work: Why Teams Hold the Secret to Well-Being & Resilience (2021) and Lead Well: 5 Mindsets to Engage, Retain, & Inspire Your Team (2025). Both books have been selected as “must reads” by the Next Big Idea Club, which is curated by Adam Grant, Susan Cain, Malcom Gladwell, and Daniel Pink. The Next Big Idea Club selected Lead Well as one of its top 11 leadership books for 2025.
Paula has shared her expertise at educational institutions such as Harvard Law School, Stanford, Wharton School Executive Education, and Princeton. She is a two-time recipient of the distinguished teaching award from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Her expertise has been featured in and on The New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, Inc., Fast Company and many other media outlets. Paula is also a contributor to Forbes and Psychology Today.
Dr Wayne Ramgoolam, Managing Director, Occupational Medicine Specialist, Occumed Limited
Dr. Wayne Ramgoolam is a highly accomplished Occupational Medicine Specialist and senior corporate medical advisor with over nineteen (19) years of leadership in workforce fitness, health surveillance, and medical governance across the energy, utility, healthcare, and industrial sectors. Based in Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Ramgoolam serves as a pivotal bridge between clinical excellence and corporate health strategy, ensuring organizational safety and regulatory compliance at the highest levels.
Dr. Ramgoolam is the Managing Director of Occumed Ltd, a premier occupational health services provider he established in 2008. In this role, he partners with major organizations to design and execute robust workplace safety, health, and wellness programs. His corporate clinical leadership has included appointments as Company Medical Advisor for several of the region's leading industrial entities, including The NGC Group of Companies, POWERGEN, Well Services Petroleum Company Limited, Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) and Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited (PLNL).
Parallel to his corporate advisory work, Dr. Ramgoolam serves as the Head of Department/Specialist Medical Officer within the Occupational Medicine Unit of the South West Regional Health Authority, where he designs health surveillance policies, establishes clinical protocols, and oversees complex fitness-for-duty evaluations.
A federally designated FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) for the International Region, Dr. Ramgoolam is authorized to conduct Class I, II, and III airman medical examinations. His clinical repertoire spans emergency medical oversight, policy development, disability/impairment rating, and specialized offshore medical certifications, holding credentials as an OEUK Registered Examining Doctor.
Reflecting his standing in the regional regulatory landscape, Dr. Ramgoolam holds multiple public appointments. He serves as an active board and committee member for national regulatory bodies, including the Occupational Safety & Health Authority (OSHA) Board of Trinidad & Tobago, the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board, and the Protective Services Compensation Committee under the Ministry of National Security.
Dr. Ramgoolam earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from The University of the West Indies. Additionally, he completed an MSc in Occupational Medicine with Commendation from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He also holds Membership in the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM) from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and a Certificate in Practical Occupational Health Law with Distinction from Brunel University. Regarding allied specialized certifications he is a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (CAOHC) and a Certified Professional Collector Trainer (DATIA/NDASA), reinforcing his comprehensive approach to industrial health screening and workplace safety.
Sulana Chunilal, Carbon & Energy Engineer , Atlantic
Sulana Chunilal is a Carbon & Energy Engineer with over nineteen years of professional experience spanning operations, process optimization, engineering, sustainability and strategic emissions management. A Process Engineer by training, she has built her career to meet business priorities along the intersection of operational performance and environmental sustainability.
Her strategic focus has been on greenhouse gas management, decarbonization and methane emissions reduction, including the implementation of the UN Environment Programme’s Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0) framework. She has been instrumental in the development of a long-term Decarbonization Pathway and has successfully led multidisciplinary teams to deliver these initiatives.
Sulana holds a BSc in Chemical and Process Engineering from The University of the West Indies, as well as the Sustainability and Climate Risk Professional certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and is a Registered Engineer in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr Ravi Bhagaloo, Occupational Health Physician, Emergency Medicine Physician, Occumed Limited
Dr. Ravi Bhagaloo is an experienced Occupational and Emergency Physician with over 17 years of clinical practice, including extensive experience in industrial and corporate health. He currently provides occupational and emergency medical services to major petrochemical and energy sector organizations in Trinidad and Tobago, including Yara Trinidad Ltd, Proman Trinidad and Tobago, and Occumed Limited. He also functions as a senior physician in the occupational medicine department of the South West Regional Health Authority.
Dr. Bhagaloo holds the Licentiateship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (LFOM) from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and a Diploma in Emergency Medicine from the University of the West Indies. His professional background includes a decade in Accident and Emergency Medicine at the South West Regional Health Authority.
He is an OEUK-registered examining doctor and a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist, with special interests in workplace injury management, employee wellness, and preventive health. Dr. Bhagaloo is passionate about promoting holistic well-being among workers through proactive health programs and evidence-based occupational medical practice.
Dr Ishta Rampersad, Director, Occupational Medicine Specialist, Occumed Limited
Dr. Ishta Rampersad brings more than 20 years of medical experience to a vital business priority: protecting the health of people at work. An Occupational Medicine Specialist and Director of Occumed Limited, she helps organisations address the human and operational challenges of maintaining a healthy workforce.
Her work at Occumed, where she has been a Director since 2008, spans fitness-for-work assessment, health surveillance, injury prevention and the management of complex occupational health cases. She translates clinical findings into practical workplace recommendations and develops health and wellness programmes that support employee wellbeing and safe, productive operations.
Her experience includes serving as retained Medical Director for Trinidad Generation Unlimited, Well Services Petroleum Company Limited, Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited, Powergen, Nestlé Trinidad & Tobago and Niko Resources. These roles have given her a broad perspective on occupational health across diverse industries.
Her public-sector leadership includes serving as Consultant in Occupational Medicine and Head of the Occupational Health Unit at the North West Regional Health Authority. She has also served on the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Safety and Health Authority and its Technical Oversight Committee. In March 2026, she was appointed to the Authority for a three-year term, extending her contribution to national occupational health and safety oversight.
Dr. Rampersad holds an MSc in Occupational and Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen and an MBBS from The University of the West Indies. She is a Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, is listed on the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago’s Specialist Register, and is a registered Offshore Energies UK Examining Doctor.
She has also lectured in occupational health within UWI’s medical and Master of Public Health programmes. Her work connects specialist medicine with the everyday realities of employment, helping organisations make informed decisions that protect their people and support healthier workplaces.
Dr. Narendra Samlal, Occupational Health Physician, Occumed Limited
Dr. Samlal is an Occupational Medicine Physician (OHP) who has held positions in both the private and public sectors for the last five (5) years. He is an OHP at Occumed Ltd, and House Officer in Occupational Medicine at the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA).
Dr. Samlal's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB.BS) from the University of the West Indies (UWI), a Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DOccMed) from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine UK, and Licentiateship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (LFOM) from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland. He is also a certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist, certified Offshore Energies UK Physician (formally OGUK) and acquired the Professional Certificate of Medicinal Cannabis from Health Cert Education, AU.
Dr. Samlal is currently pursuing the MFOM and as a dedicated and highly skilled Occupational Medicine professional, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of employees in diverse workplace settings. With a strong background in providing comprehensive occupational health services, he is committed to delivering exceptional care and implementing effective strategies to mitigate occupational hazards and improve overall workplace health.
Dana Thomas, Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and ARISE Trinidad and Tobago Committee Member
Dana Thomas is a Certified Business Continuity Professional with over seven (7) years of experience in Business Continuity Management within the financial industry. Her experience spans business continuity preparedness, recovery strategies, incident response, plan testing and exercising, crisis communications and BCM governance.
Dana holds an MBA in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation and an MSc in Safety, Health, Environment and Occupational Hygiene, and is passionate about both personal and organizational resilience.
Shazam Edoo, Health & Safety, Enterprise Risk, and Resilience Professional and ARISE Trinidad and Tobago Committee Member
Mr. Shazam Edoo is a highly accomplished Health & Safety, Enterprise Risk, and Resilience Professional with over two decades of cross-sector experience leading risk -critical operations and strategic leadership across high-risk industries including energy, petrochemicals, infrastructure, as well as other areas like hospitality and retail sectors.
Known for his strategic leadership and technical depth, he is the only Trinidadian to hold dual fellowship status with the Institute of Risk Management and the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health which are both headquartered in the United Kingdom. Both distinguished achievements underscore his commitment to advancing occupational health & safety and risk management standards within the region. In addition to this he is a Board-Certified Safety Professional and Governance, Risk and Compliance Practitioner which reflects a holistic, integrated approach to managing enterprise risk, business continuity, and organizational resilience across diverse and high-risk environments.
Mr. Edoo serves as the Chair of the IOSH Caribbean Community, where he champions professional development and fosters a unified voice for safety leadership and regional collaboration. Nationally, he chairs the Technical Committee for Occupational Safety & Health, under the direction of the Trinidad & Tobago Bureau of Standards, where he plays a key role in shaping OSH policy, regulatory frameworks and standard adoption.
As an internationally recognized OSH expert, he contributes at the global level through his role on the ISO Technical Committee TC 283 / Working Group 6, which is responsible
for the ongoing review and updating of ISO 45001:2018, the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. Through his unique blend of technical leadership, strategic insight and cross disciplinary expertise, Mr. Edoo continues to influence policy, regional advocacy and shape safer, more resilient, and better-prepared organizations across the Caribbean and beyond.
Wendy Dickson, Business Continuity Professional and ARISE Trinidad and Tobago Committee Member
Wendy Dickson has been in the Insurance industry for over 30 years and currently holds the position of Business Continuity Coordinator in the Insurance Industry for the past 11 years.
Her wide span of experience has touched key Insurance areas as an Underwriter, IT Business Analyst, Reinsurance Administrator, Project Officer and within recent years to Business Continuity Coordinator.
Wendy has a great passion for her job and holds an Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) certification from the DRI International as well as a State Licensing – General Insurance certificate from the Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Institute (TTII) along with a series of training and development qualifications in Process Mapping and Project Management. She is also a member of the AMCHAM Arise BCP
sub- committee.
Hema Son Son, Accountant, AMCHAM T&T
Hema Son Son, ACCA Affiliate, is an experienced accounting and business professional with over 15 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial accountability and sustainable business practices.
She currently serves as an Accountant at the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad & Tobago (AMCHAM T&T), where she prepares management accounts and budgets, supports strategic decision-making, and works closely with senior management, project teams and the Board.
In her role at AMCHAM T&T, Hema also supports the planning and financial management of major conferences and events, working across teams to ensure effective resource management and delivery. She has experience supervising staff and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.
Her work reflects a strong interest in strengthening organizational performance. Hema is an ACCA Affiliate and brings a practical, analytical and collaborative approach to financial management and business operations.
