The AmCham Citi Linkage Golf Tournament will be entering its 18th year on Sunday 13th June, 2010, thanks to AmCham T&T’s 1st Executive Director, Ms. June Maharaj and Founding Member Company – Fedex Corporation’s very own Ms. Nisha Lau.
The two ladies came up with the idea back in 1992, when AmCham T&T was born, as a way of creating an alternative networking event for the AmCham T&T Members.
Founding Member Company, Citi, stepped up to partner with AmCham T&T on this initiative and hence the birth of the AmCham Citi Linkage Golf Tournament. Citi has continued to lend its unwavering support to this tournament as the sole Platinum Sponsor for the past eighteen years.
The tournament has been organised as a ‘Better Ball’ format whereby the best score (better ball) of the two players in one team is counted against the better ball of the two players in the other team. Better Ball Prizes are then awarded to the teams with the top 5 highest scores with special prizes being awarded to players with Best Gross Team Score, Best Gross Score by a Male Junior and Best Gross Score by a Female Junior. The ‘Linkage’ element refers to teams who are randomly ‘linked’ and their combined scores give the randomly selected teams an opportunity to win some fabulous prizes.
AmCham T&T has always been a proud supporter of Junior Golf in Trinidad & Tobago and has continuously donated part proceeds from each tournament to the Trinidad & Tobago Junior Golf Association since the tournament’s inception.
Each year, AmCham T&T has had Junior Golfers competing alongside prominent business executives of Trinidad & Tobago, for a chance to win the AmCham Citi Linkage Golf Tournament Trophy and a wide range of prizes donated by the business community.
