General Manager, IBM
Simon Aqui is the General Manager of IBM with responsibility for the branch strategic planning functions and P&L operations including the sales, service delivery and support functions. IBM continues to be the industry leader in Trinidad and Tobago in providing information technology and consulting services to the local marketplace. It is a position held today with much pride, and can be traced back to over fifty years of doing business in Trinidad and Tobago.
Simon began his career at IBM in a sales position focusing on the financial services sector in 1991, before moving to the USA to further his studies. After completing his MBA at UC Berkeley in California, Simon worked as a Product Manager at 3Com Corporation for two years managing the product development life cycle of the company’s largest product line. In 2001, Simon returned to IBM and led the sales team prior to his promotion to General Manager.
Simon attended Fatima College in Port of Spain, was awarded a B.Sc. from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and a MBA from the University of California, Berkeley (Haas). Simon has completed extensive technical, professional and management courses at IBM.
Simon is also a member of the Information and Communications Technology Society of T&T (ICTS) and has presented at a number of ICT related conferences.
