About BFA Conference 2008

AmCham Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to host the American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America's (AACCLA's) Business Future of the Americas (BFA) Conference in June 2008. We are especially proud that this prestigious event will be held for the first time in the English Speaking Caribbean since the 1980s when it was held in Jamaica.

For nearly a century the American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) have been the most influential voice of U.S. business in Latin America and the Caribbean. Today, joined together in the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America, these 23 AmChams represent more than 20,000 companies and over 80% of U.S. investment in the region. AACCLA's mission is to promote trade and investment between the United States and the countries of the region through free trade, free markets and free enterprise.

The Business Future of the Americas Conference is therefore one of AACCLA's premier events as it is a forum for the discussion and understanding of critical trade, commercial, political, economic, social and security issues which are or have the potential of affecting countries in the Western Hemisphere. The BFA Conference is renowned for the high calibre of speakers and presenters who participate as well as the fact that participants are given the opportunity to have close dialogue and interaction with these persons.

The BFA Conference 2008 will offer an excellent mix of social and cultural events, business tours, matchmaking and other private meetings, charismatic and expert speakers on topics such as Global Energy Trends, Sustainable Development, Energy Security, Alternative Energy, Investment, Trade and Competitiveness; subjects which will all continue to be major issues for the Western Hemisphere and indeed the world for years to come.

It is expected that over 350 persons will attend the Conference, including
  • Presidents and CEO's of the 23 AmChams in Latin America
  • Senior Executives of National and Global Corporations operating within the Western Hemisphere
  • Senior Government Officials from the United States and the Region
  • Experts in the field of Energy, Environment, Finance and Trade
